The will of Peter Patterson:

In the name of God Amen, I Peter Patterson of the township of Drumore, County of Lancaster and the State of Pennsylvania never being sick and weak of body, but of perfect mind and memory. Thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is for all men to He to make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my executor nothing doubling but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mightily Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with has pleased God to bless me in this life. I gave demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and _____ ______ I do gave and leave to my son-in-law Robert Kirkpatrick all my estate real and personal which I am possessed off being in the township, county and state aforesaid. To him, his heirs, executer administer or assigns for ever he the Rob. Kirkpatrick paying the daughters, the sons and bequeathments hereafter mentioned ____ _____ _____ charges. Them I do give and bequeath to oldest daughter, Mary, widow of John Thompson, dec. the sum of thirty pounds current money of the state above written to be paid in manner following: ten pounds to be paid at the expiration of one year after my decease and a second ten pounds at he end of three years after the first payment and a third ten pounds at the extinction of four years after the first payment and a cow or the price of a cow immediately after my decease. Them I do gave and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Patterson, son of Samuel Patterson, the sum of twenty pounds current money aforesaid to be paid as follows ten pounds to be paid at the end of one year after my decease and a second ten pounds. Them I do gave and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Mitchel wife to James Mitchel the sum of twenty pounds current money aforesaid to be paid in manner following: ten pounds to be paid at the expiration three years after my decease and ten pounds to be paid at he end of five years after my decease. I also allow that if I prove a charge greater than I have been hereto for that Robert Kirkpatrick afore named shall be allowed in consideration at the discretion of my executors out of the legacies before named equally according to each ______. And I do hereby constitute appoint and ordain, Andrew Caldwell and Joseph Sarimor to be the executors of this my last wills and testaments made by me as also all legacies and executor made by me in any ways before named, willing and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto at my hand and seal this twenty first day of August in the year of our lord one thousand, seven hundred and eighty one.

Be it remembered that on the twenty ninth day of August, anno domain 1782, the last will and testament of Peter Patterson, late of Drumore Township in the County of Lancaster, yeoman, deceased was proved in due form of law and letters testamentary thereon were granted to Andrew Caldwell and Joseph Sarimore, the Executors therein named they being first duty qualified well and truly to administer the estate of the said deceased and especially to exhibit a perfect inventory thereof into the registers office at Lancaster on or before the twenty ninth day of September next and to render a just account to their administration on the said estate when thereto law fully required. Given under the seal of the said office.

Lancaster county on the twenty ninth day of August, anno domain 1782 before me the subscriber personally appeared John McMillan and John Forsyth the subscribing withfore to the foregoing will and their corporal oath according to law did verily and respectively depose and say that they are present and saw and heard Peter Patterson the ______ in the said wiring named sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same as and for his Last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing mind, memory and understanding the best of their knowledge observation and belief.
