1901 - Living in Lowestoft in household of John & Eliza Mummery. Scholar, aged 5.

c1914-18 - Served with the Suffolk Yeomanry.

After 1918 - Emigrated to New Zealand shortly after the war. Had a number of manual agricultural jobs, then bred and trained a race horse. By 1933 had achieved one second and two third places with the horse "Shaun Spedah" and was an auctioneer and furniture salesman. In early 1933 he wrote home to relatives in Lowestoft after a silence of about ten years. (From an article in Lowestoft Journal, 23 March 1933)
