Family bible information from Walt Derr shows Peter's date of birth as May 3, 1770 but after finding him listed in the 1850 Logan Co., OH mortality schedule I realized that was incorrect. He died in July of 1849 making him 73 at the time of death making him born in 1776. The information Walt had had been transcribed by somebody who said the original was too fragile to copy and extremely hard to decipher dates.

The mortality schedule also gives his place of birth as PA.

On Feb. 5, 1800 a marriage between Mary Brendle and Peter Dorr took place in the Schwartzwald Church, Exeter Township, Berks Co., PA. The family bible says Mary Brinley and Peter Derr were married Feb. 5, 1800.

1800 PA census, Berks Co. shows a Peter Derr the age our Peter would have been, no children, a wife in the same age bracket, living next door to a James Brindle. It seems like too much of a coincidence to think there's no relationship there but a fellow by the name of Robert Brinley has written a family history and says he knows of no Mary Brindle/Brinley from that Brindle family who could've married in 1800. He says the Mary from that family was single and living with her parents at that time. He seems to have done a lot of research on the family but I still think there must be some connection.

During a research trip to Salt Lake City in Jan. of 2008 I found a document showing proof of the connection of Peter Derr and Mary Brinley to the James Brindle in the 1800 census. James Brindle was actually James Brinley, brother of Mary Brinley, and son of James and Mary Casselberry Brinley. The document stated: In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 9th day of October in the year of our Lord 1811 Peter Derr (seal) Mary Derr (seal) Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Wm. Brown Robt. McCandlish Mifflin County as on the 9th day of October A D 1811 before me the subscriber one of the Judges of the Court of common pleas of the said County came the within named Peter Derr & Mary his wife and acknowledged the foregoing letter of attorney to be their act and deed & desired that the same might be recorded as such... I contacted Robert Brinley and he agreed that this Mary Brinley and the Mary Brinley he wrote of in his book are one and the same.
