BIOGRAPHY: The Life and Times of Samuel Gorton The State of Rhode Island Philadelphia 1907 Page 202/265 Thomas Gorton (Israel 5, Israel 4, Othniel 3, Jonathan 2, Samuel 1), born 1765, died 1814, at Cranston, R.I., married Penelope Knight, daughter of Nehemiah and Eleanor (Hudson) Knight. Nehemiah was the son of Jeremiah and Penelope (-----) Knight. A son, Nehemiah Rice Knight, was Governor and United States Senator (Austin's Ancestral Dictionary). Penelope Knight was born September 12, 1768, and died October 31, 1836. Thomas Gorton is not mentioned in his father's will, but is in a partition deed, dated April 10, 1807.
