In DeRuyter, N. Y., April 27th, Deacon Pardon Coon, aged 78 years. Deacon Coon was among the early inhabitants of DeRuyter, and near forty years since embraced religion and united with the people of his choice, among whom he maintained his fraternal relation till the visibility of that relation was dissolved by death. Being naturally diffident, and a man of few words, he was not as forward in the social and public devotions of the church as many who have borne the office of deacon, yet he manifested an undeviating interest in whatever pertained to the welfare of Zion, and by a spotless life showed that the hopes of his heart were anchored by Christ within the veil. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matt. 5: 8.
