Obituary found at http://www.geocities.com/milamco/milam-975to.htm Owen F. Towery of Salty Community. Age 86. Died ?/1964 (Friday) at Boswell Rest Home in Rockdale. Services held (Sunday) at the Salty Church. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. W. J. Chambers, of the Lampasas Primitive Baptist Church, officiated. He was BORN 4/11/1878 in Hazel Green, Alabama and came to Texas, settling in the Salty Community in 1897. Married Miss Mariah Ellen Jackson at Salty in 2/3/1901. He was a farmer and followed that vocation until ill health forced him to retire a numberof years ago following a stroke in 10/1959. He had been bedridden and spent the past 2 years in Boswell Rest Home. Preceded in death by his wife on 10/7/1938. Member of New Salem Primitive Baptist Church since the early 1900's. SURVIVORS: 5 sons, Conrad and A. C. Towery, both of Rockdale; Leon and Philip Towery of Thorndale, Mark Towery of Salty; daughter, Mrs. Don Caffey of Salty; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
