    Orrin Jack Coffrin, a long-time Prescott Valley and Dewey resident, died on Dec. 13, at age 89. Known as "Jack" by family and friends, he was born in 1917 on a farm in Richland County in eastern Montana to Everett and Belvy Olive (Probasco) Coffrin.

    He graduated from Sidney High School in 1935 with the highest GPA of any male and served as student body president.

    Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army in early 1942. His 44 months of service included 28 months of continuous overseas duty in Hawaii, New Guinea, Philippine Islands and Japan. As a staff sergeant, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 1945.

    Jack and Vivian Kusler were married in 1946 and resided in Sidney, Mont., where he operated a photography business. After the birth of their son Gary in 1950, the family moved to Miles City, Mont., where Jack opened Coffrin Studio. In 1964, he, started Coffrin's Old West Gallery. The business specialized in creating photographs and other printed materials from the 1,000+ original negatives of renowned frontier photographer L.A. Huffman.

    In 1981, Jack and Vivian retired to northern Arizona. Jack had 25 years of perfect attendance at the Prescott Valley Rotary Club, where he served as President in 1984-85. He previously served as President of the Miles City Rotary Club in 1964-65.

    Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Vivian; his step-daughter, Karol Nabor; and sister Vesta Ahlquist Lockrem.

    He is survived by his son's family, Gary Coffrin and Deborah St. Julien, and their daughters Jessica and Claire (San Jose, Calif.); his brother, Basil Coffrin (Sun City West, Ariz.); and his sisters, Meurice Doran (Sidney, Mont.), Anita Wilford Hull (Tucson, Ariz.), and Jo Virginia Stansbury (Atlanta, Ga.).

    Services are planned for June 22 at the Prescott National Cemetery.
