Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Valley Chapel for Verdie L. Blakley, 95, who died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at her residence. The Rev. Greg Bartley and Bro. Gary Wilemon will officiate. Interment in Moody Chapel. Valley Chapel, Oneonta, is in charge. She was born in Blount County to the late John Thomas Nix and Minnie Emma Campbell Nix. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and an avid gardner. She loved quilting and needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orisa L. Blakley; son, Eldridge Blakley; one sister; eight brothers; and five grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Emma B. Wilemon and Veralene Wilemon; sisters, Ruth Carroll and Flora Bates; brother, A.B. Nix; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Darren Tucker, Melissa Sanchez, Scott Driskel, Michael Wilemon, Jeremy Wilemon and Jamey Wilemon. |
