Funeral services were held from the Yetzer Funeral Home and a two p.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, Monday, May 17, for Mrs. Otto Thun, who passed away from a severe heart attack on Saturday, May 15. Rev. John W. Stehr officiated at the services and at the graveside in Waconia Trinity Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Trittabaugh, Howard Hechsel, Orville Koehler, Thomas Dorn, Arnold Hechsel, and Leonard Jaekel. Mrs. Olga Mathilda Thun, nee Hechsel, was born January 13, 1895 in New Germany, Minn. She was the daughter of Herman Hechsel and his wife Amelia Lohrke Hechsel. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township. On September 22, 1914, she was united in marriage to Otto Thun in St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood, Minn. This marriage was blessed with two children, Elmer Thun of Waconia and Verdella (Mrs. Harold Unglaub) of Minneapolis. Mrs. Thun had undergone several operations in recent years and had been feeling well enough to attend a funeral on Friday, May 14. After returning home she suddenly became ill and was taken to the Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia. The following morning at about 3 o'clock, she was called to her eternal home as the result of a severe heart attack, having attained the age of 70 years, 4 months and two days. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband Otto Thun; her son, Elmer and his wife Erna; her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Unglaub of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, David and Yvonne Thun; one brother, Theodore Hechsel of Howard Lake; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Trittabaugh of New Germany, Mrs. William Birkholtz of Waconia, Mrs. Howard McCluen of Perry, Iowa, Mrs. Robert Dorn of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Arthur Jaekel of Chaska; also a stepmother, Mrs. Anna Schulz of Chaska. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. -Waconia Patriot 20 May 1965
