- ↑ He lost his fortune in South Dakota playing cards. It was said that it was known that he had money, and he was deliberately lured there. He liked to drink and play cards, and they got him to gamble all his money away. He returned to LaCrosse penniless and became mentally confused before dieing of a stroke.
- ↑ He sold it at nice profit and started another one in Waukon, Iowa, but that one didn't do well.
