    "Children [of William and Margaret Wilcoxson]: … Obadiah, b. [say 1648]."

    "Wilcoxson, Obadiah, s. of William. Settled in Killingworth; rem. before 1676 to East Guilford, where he d. in 1714. This branch spelled the name Wilcox. … He was released from training, Nov. 1694, because of lameness.

    Will 18 Dec. 1710, proved 1 Nov. 1714; wife Silence; son Ebenezer, land in Durham; son John, land at 'Hassaka Gusell'; son Joseph, land in Guilford; dau. Mary (had rec'd most of portion); daus. Mindwell, Jemima, Thankful; mentioned sons Obadiah and Timothy dec'd. Inv. 28 Oct. 1714. Thomas Munson in right of wife Mary appealed from probate of will. On 12 Sept. 1723, Silence Wilcockson exhibited receipts from five of the legatees, and declared the others had received their portions. [Her name at that date was Chatfield, despite the retention of her former name by the probate record.]

    Statements that Obadiah had a son Janna, or children by his first wife, are false; Janna derived from the Wilcox family of Middletown."
