Obadiah Jr.4 (Obadiah3, John2, Capt. Edward1), son of Obadiah Sr., and Rebecca (Brooks) Johnson, was born at Plainfield (later Canterbury), 23 June 1702, and died there 10 April 1765. Like his father, Obadiah was a leading man in town and church affairs, and his will shows that he was possessed of considerable wealth in notes and lands. He was a lieutenant, and later captain, and is said to have served in the French and Indian War. He was a deacon in the Separatist Church.
