Obituary from Kingston Daily Freeman, May 23, 1983 SAUGERTIES--Nolie W. Irwin, 69, of 3442 Oak Lane, formerly of Napanoch, died on Sunday. He was born in Neversink June 24, 1913, the son of the late Charles and Mildred Irwin. Mr. Irwin retired from the Ulster County Highway Department, where he had worked since 1960, seven years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II In the African, European and Middle East theaters. He was the recipeint of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 156 and the Sergeant of Arms of the American Legion Post 1748 Lake Katrine. He also belongd to the Forty and Eight Club No. 381 and the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was an exempt member of the Napanoch Fire Co. and a former member of Ulster Hose No. 5. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James R. (Frances) Allen of Glenerie Park; one brother, Henry Irwin of Napanoch; one step-brother, William Smith of Liberty; one step-sister, Vivian Smith of Liberty; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank H. Simpson Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., with the Rev. Robert Gram, pastor of the Fair Street Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
