In a book that I found in the library in Clarksburg, West Virginia in October 1994 I found Noah Keesy listed as the son of Peter and Maria (Murphy) Keesy and that he was born in Lancaster county, PA August 28, 1829. I think the article was written about 1883 and it states that his father was dead but his mother still living in Lancaster Co. PA. I have not found a Peter Keesy in the Census of Lancaster Co., but a Noah Keesy listed in Lancaster Co. W. Hempfield who could be the right age for his father. I have not been able to locate him again in a later Census. It is possible that the same family could have spelt the name different ways or it was written incorrectly. Noah and Cassandra Harden were married in Marion county , October 18, 1853. Noah served one year in the Federal Service, war of 1861 as a member of Co. C, 6th West Virginia Infantry. I found Cassandra listed with her parents Thomas and Mary A. (Malone) Harden in the 1860 census and I am assuming that she was with them if her husband was in the service. Her children ( and she would have had at least two) where not listed . I found them on the 1870 Census with their 6 children listed. The article stated that the Hardens began to live in Harrison Co. in 1853, and Noah in 1860 . It states that he was a cabinet maker and built the second house in Cherry Camp which is the one he lived in when that article was written. Of the 35 houses in Cherry Camp he assisted in building twenty-seven. I have found his name listed on death certificates as the undertaker, and I suppose that was due to the fact that he probably made the coffins. I have not been able to get his death certificate in either the Harrison Co. courthouse in Clarksburg, West Virginia or in the state records in Charleston, West Virginia. I don't know if that means he was out of state at the time of his death and thus recorded somewhere else. I have seen his grave in the IOOF Cemetery in Salem West Virginia with his wife Cassandra in the Keesy plot. I did get Cassandra's death certificate. I tried to make some contact with the Methodist Church to see if they had any records or obituaries of his death. I also have a copy of his will. He listed his three single daughters to have his real estate rent free and they may use any money in his bank account if they needed it as long as they were unmarried. T. W. Keesy and C. C. Keesy his sons were the executors.

Have a copy of his Civil War Pension Records. Also a copy of a Special Schedule of Surviving Soldiers, Sailors etc listing him in Tenmile District and having a Knee Dislocated.
