Know all men by these presents that I Nixson Morse of Barnet in the County

of Caledonia & State of Vermont for the consideration of twenty dollars paid

to my full satisfaction by Alexander Hyndman of said Barnet have & do hereby

sell & convey to the said Alexander Hyndman his heirs and assigns forever a

certain parcel of land in said Barnet & bounded as follows (viz.) Beginning

in the middle of Stephens River

in the line between the land of said Hyndman & Morse Thence South forty six

degrees West seven chains ninety three links to a stone in the line of Adam

Duncans land Thence North twenty eight degrees West six chains fifty links

to the middle of said river, Thence down the middle thereof to the place of

beginning, Containing two acres one quarter & thirty four poles, strict

measure be the same more or less & is part of lot number five in said Barnet

To Have & to Hold the said premises with the appertenances thereof to the

said Alexander Hyndman his heirs and assigns to their own proper use &

benefit forever. And I the said Nixson Morse for myself & heirs do covenant

with the said Alexander that until the delivering hereof I am lawful owner

of said premises that they are free of all incumbrances, & that I will

warrant & defend the same against all lawful claims whatever. In witness

whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this third day of November A.D. 1813.

Nixon/Nickerson was born in Bradford, Mass...nothing in vital records,

tho'). Since John C. Morse is said (by family bible) to have been born in

Barnet, VT, Nickerson/Nixon must have lived there at some point. He died

about 1823.

1810 census, Roll 64,Vermont, Caledonia Co., Barnet, pg. 156 lists Nixon

Morse.

This census lists only heads of households and enumerates other family

members but doesn't name them.

1816 From "An Historical Pamphlet" by Frank C. Wright, pg. 52, Publ. St.

Johnsbury, VT 1931:

Among the names of those first united with the Congregational Ch. of Barnet

and Lyman on 21 Nov. 1816 was Nicason (sic) Morse. He was also baptized at

the time of his admission. Also, on 18 August 1820, "Voted that Phineas

Stevens be under censure of the Church and be admonished by letter. Voted

that Nicason Morse and Joseph Dickey prepare and report a letter for that

purpose."

records.....June 12, 1817, Louise, Benjamin, Rebecca, Charlotte, Jane, John

C., children of Nicason Morse."
