Nicholas was named as a feoffee and executor in the 1506 PCC will of Thomas Hell of Northiam. He appears in some court cases in the early 1500s.S3

    In his will, in Latin, (dated 2 Jan, 29 Henry VIII), Nicholas Tufton:
    -directs his body to be buried before the altar of St Nicholas in the church of the Blessed Mary in Northiam, and a stone with picture and writing to be placed over his tomb
    -leaves a number of religious bequests including one to the tomb of St Richard of Chichester
    -leaves 12 pence to each of his godchildren
    -leaves 20 marks to John Capellano for celebrating masses and other rites for his soul and the souls of: William, his father; Alice, his mother; John Hever and Marion his wife; Thomas Hell:; Thomas Cryour; John Buckland; and all the faithful dead.
    -leaves 20 shillings a year for life to his daughter Isabelle Cryour
    -leaves 20 shillings for the marriage of 6 poor girls of Northiam, chosen from his kin and one to be his servant Alice Peacock.
    -leaves 20 shillings 7 pence for the marriage of poor girls in Bello
    -leaves 10 shillings to other works of charity in Bello, according to the will of John Buckland
    -leaves 5 marks to the reparation of the church, library, vestry, and other needs in the parish of Northiam
    -leaves 10 shillings to Nicholas Cryour the son of John Cryour and to each of the sons and daughters of his daughters
