    Some secondary sources claim that this Nicholas Lawrence was son of Thomas Lawrence of Hingham [Hingham Hist 2:426-7; Bon 821; Savage 3:62-63]. There is, however, no evidence for this claim, which seems to be bsaed on the fact that both Nicholas Lawrence and the widow of Thomas Lawrence moved to Dorchester. Thomas Lawrence died at Hingham in 1655, and the widow moved to Dorcester after that date. The nuncupative will of Thomas Lawrene refers only to "his children," without naming them [SPR 5:246]. Nicholas Lawrence had already moved to Dorchester by 1652 [NEHGR 156:149-50]. Based on the early close association with the family of Henry Lawrence, and the lack of any record evidence for association with Thomas Lawrence, we suggest that Nicholas Lawrence was very likely a kinsman of the former, perhaps even a son.
