25. Nicholas (Cheney),4 (Peter,3 Peter,2 John,1) b. in Newbury March 14, 1692, m. Dec. 1, 1717, Hannah, dau. of James and Abigail (Lambert) Tenney, of Rowley. … He bought half of his father's home place July 2, 1714, and there resided. He drew a lot in 'Narraganset,' [Buxton, Me.] in 1735, but never lived there. He passed his life in Byfield parish, he and his wife being members of the church, there, and having their children christened by the pastor in due season. He d. Aug. 7, 1774, 'of a lingering disorder.' The name of Nicholas Cheney appears on a list of the original grantees of Contoocook, [now Boscawen,] N. H. the copy which is printed in N. H. Colonial Papers having been made April 24, 1754. He is also recorded as a proprietor in Hopkinton, N. H. in Nov. 1762."
