Neva Chambers, 87, a lifetime Hanna resident, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at home. She was born January 7, 1924 in Hanna to Emory & Gladys (Mitchell) Rice and graduated from Hanna High School. Neva had been the longtime cleaning lady for both of the Hanna churches for many years. She was a strong willed and independent lady that learned how to handle the world on her own.
Survivors include her daughters: Carol Miranda of Shrewsbury, PA, Donna (Butch) Eaton of Hanna, sisters: Lorraine Huisinga, Ellamae (Leon) Johnson & Bunny (Ronald) Acree, sister-in-law, Marian Rice all of Florida, granddaughters: Shannon Walter, Chris Huska & Melissa Huska and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lynn Rice.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, 10:30 am at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St, Wanatah with burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 3 – 7 pm. Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church or First Lutheran Church both of Hanna.
