    Nelson Dilk, 87, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Salem Crossing in Salem. He was born in the Marble Corner community in what is now the Jefferson Proving Ground on February 3, 1925 the son of C. Harvey and Sina Ellen Wright Dilk. He was married to Dorothy Johnson on December 16, 1942 and his wife of 69 years survives. Other survivors include one son Marvin Dilk of Holton; one daughter Patty Campbell of Salem; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Nelson Edward Dilk, grandson Jimmy Campbell, his parents, and his brothers Clarence, Ralph, Delbert, and Floyd Dilk. Mr. Dilk was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Versailles. In his younger years, Nelson was employed with Arvins in Columbus and had also worked at White Castle in Indianapolis. He was also a farmer, hauled water in the Versailles community, and was a school bus driver for Versailles and South Ripley for 25 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24th at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Garland Rudd of the Cedar Creek Community Church officiating. Burial will be in the Marble Corner Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Marble Corner Cemetery in Care of the funeral home.
