John Hix and his wife Sarah Hix said " We having the prior rights to administrating the goods & -- of Nathaniel Pearce late of Kent County deceased do hereby refuse & renounce the Administration of the said deceased estate and desire that administration of the said deceased estate be comitted to Mr Gideon Pearce of the county aforsaid who we apprehend is the greatest creditor of the said deceased. Given under our hands this twenty second day of March 1735/6." Both John and Sarah made a mark.
    Gideon posted a £ bond on 1 Apr 1736 to administer the estate.
    The inventory made 2 Jul 1736 was for £40:12:6 and showed a bible and a few animals. The nearest of Kin were listed as William Pearce and Isabella Beck. Both signed with a mark. William is assumed to be Gideons son and Isabella Nathaniel's sister.
