DEATH: 14 October 1884, Newton MA. He was a resident of Newton, a bookkeeper, married, died of phthisis and pulmonitis at age 43-9, born in Roxbury to William D. and Catherine H. Seaver, buried in Forest Hills cemetery in Newton. [MA VR 356.164] MARRIAGE: 18 Apr 1873 Newton MA, at Newtonville, by Rev. J. Coleman Adams. Nathan H Seaver a resident of Newton, age 32, clerk, born Boston, parents Wm D and Catherine Hobbs Seaver (MA VR 254.266). MILITARY: Nathan H. Seaver, a clerk of Roxbury, MA, enlisted in the Union Army as a Private on 29 October 1861 at the age of 21, and enlisted in Company F, 24th Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts on 30 October 1861. He was taken as a Prisoner of War on on 16 May 1864 at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia, and was confined on 20 May 1864 (estimated date) at Andersonville, Georgia. He subsequently enlisted in the 10th Tennessee Confederate Army, and was recaptured on 28 December 1864 at Egypt Station, Mississippi. He was confined on 1 January 1865 (estimated date) at the Alton, Illinois Military Prison. He was released on 7 June 1865, upon taking an oath of loyalty to the United States ("Military Records of Individual Civil War Soldiers," Historical Data Systems, Provo UT, accessed at "American Civil War Soldiers" database on www.ancestry.com). CENSUS: In the 1880 US Census, the Nathan H. Seaver family resided in Ward Two in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts on Walnut Street [surname transcribed as SeaRer rather than SeaVer on FHL database). The family included Nathan H. (age 40, born MA, works in cord mill, parents born MA), his wife Alice C. (age 30, born New Brunswick, keeping house, parents born New Brunswick), son Edward (age 6, born MA, at school) and son Edward (age 4, born MA). In the 1900 US Census, the remnant of this family resided at 35/37 Temple Street in the 8th Ward of Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. The family included head Alice A. Seaver (indexed as Abie A.
