2010-Jarrod VanKirk's rootsweb page-Nancy Jane & David were 1st cousins on Musser side; her parents were William VanKirk and Barbara Ann Musser (dau of Jacob). David & Nancy Jane had triplet girls who died at birth. Nancy Jane's will written 20 Aug 1912 gave $1.00 each to her children: Mary Crawford, Dave VanKirk, Annie Kelly, Archie & Richard VanKirk, Kate Lambright, Eleck (Alexander) VanKirk, and Lizzie Fosnaught, and also $1.00 to the heirs of her deceased son William. She gave to 2 sons, John and Chauncy VanKirk, the remainder of her estate (real, personal & mixed) to share and share alike providing they care for their father, David VanKirk, for the remainder of his life, if he survived her. Per Lorilei Schultz, Nancy Jane ran a boarding house in Darlington near Stitt Road and through this saved up enough money to buy their farm, because farming was a step-up from coal mining. Probate: 24 Nov 1914 in Beaver, PA. Beaver Falls Tribune - 9 Nov 1914 Mrs. Nancy Jane VanKirk, aged 79 years, died Tuesday at her home from dropsy. Her husband died last April, she is survived by 11 children. The funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. A. Savage and interment was made in Wilson Cemetery, New Galilee. |
