Myrtle Elizabeth DeShetler, born 26 May 1885 in Sandusky CO OH; died 9 October 1911 in Wood CO Montgomery Twp. OH - 26yrs/4mo/13days. She was th e daughter of Wm Henry DeShetler and Sophia Lippert. She married Charles And rew Smith 8 August 1906 in Fremont OH Sandusky CO. He was born 10 July 18 84 in Burgoon, Seneca CO OH, and died 26 February 1969 in Fremont OH Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Simon Peter Smith and Margaret M Mathias.

Myrtle died in her sleep in a log cabin on Cygnet Rd w/o US 23, south a nd west of Risingsun OH. Supposedly the baby {Nellie} was crying and Charlie shook h er to take care of the child and she didn't wake up.

Myrtle's Obits: Risingsun Unique -12 October 1911, 19 October 1911, 26 Oc tober, 1911: On Monday evening October 9, 1911 when the shocking discovery of t he sudden death of Mrs. Charles Smith, living with her husband and three children, s outhwest of town was made, the community was deprived of a good wife and mother and th eir hearts made sad by the news. The husband called the assistance of Joe Milligan f amily when he made the heart breaking discovery at 11:15 PM.

Mrs. Smith had been in excellent health upon retiring and the day had be en as happy to her as any. Mrs. Charles Smith was formerly Miss Myrtle DeShetler, a nd in August, 1906 was happily married to Charlie Smith at Fremont OH. To this union t hree children, two boys and a girl ranging in age from one to four years, ca me to bless the home. From the day of their marriage they were close and loving compa nions and this with the orphaned children will make the death more sad and more keen ly felt.

Death was due to heart trouble. Mrs. Smith was age 26 years, 4 months, a nd 13 days. The remains were laid to rest in Trinity Cemetery. The heartbroken husba nd has the sympathy of many relatives and neighbors.
