CIVIL WAR: 53 Regiment, Company F, North Carolina Infantry Resided in Alamance County where he enlisted at age 18 on 14 February 1863. Wounded by accident near Madison Court House, Virginia in July-August 1863. Returned to duty in January-February 1864. Hospitalized at Charlottesville, Virginia on 16 June 1864 with a gunshot wound and abscesses. Place and date wounded not reported. Furloughed for thirty days on 31 July 1864. Detailed for hospital duty at Lynchburg, Virginia on 29 October 1864. Reported absent on detail through February 1865. Survived the war.
