  9. ↑ Her birth year is difficult to establish. If she was the daughter of James Davis and Nancy Riddle, then she was likely born 1895 - after her parents were married and before her mother died. If she was born earlier than that, as suggested by most of the records, then she might have been the child of either James Davis or Nancy Riddle from a previous marriage.

    Note that the Find A Grave entry for her father claims (without providing a source) that she was born (Mary A Davis) in 1895 and that her mother died in 1898. Her mother's gravestone clearly says 1895, but it might not be the original marker, and James didn't remarry until 1899.
