From OBR, pg 103: "Milton Cayce Doughty spent his entire life (except a few months in Illinois during the Civil Way) on the old farm, near Farmington, where his parents settled in 1836. He was a good father, a good neightbor, and an industrious, successful farmer. During the last twenty years of his life he was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.

He passed away at his home 1 1/2 miles south of Farmington Wednesday morning March 12, 1913. Funeral services were held at the residence, conducted by his pastor Rev. C. E. Hickok, after which the remains were interred in the family burying ground.

Mr. Doughty was born on the farm on which he died and on which he had resided all his life. The entire community realizes with his faithful wife and sorrowing children, that a good man has gone out from among us. He will be missed for he was a leader. Faithful in his Christian duty, his was a worthy example: tireless and thoughtful in daily labor, his farm and home are not surpassed in all this section."
