Milo Sweet Place was born in Alfred township March 12, 1838, and died of heart failure at his home in Alfred Feb. 16, 1904.
He was eldest of six children born to Freeman and Almira Place. Four still survive. He was married to L. Belle Wells June 20, 1863. To them were born four children, three of whom are living; and four grandchildren. With the exception of a few years of early life spent in Wisconsin and a few months of service in the war until disabled by sickness, his life has been spent in Alfred. He was baptized when about eighteen years of age by Elder E. V. Hull, and joined the First Alfred church, from which his membership was transferred to the West. He was an honest, hard-working man, serving faithfully in the ranks as a private, and seeking to do his duty. Services were conducted at the home Feb. 18, by the pastor. Text, Gen. 1: 27; John 9: 12.
