We were raised boys together in the same neighborhood. In fact we grew up in homes less than 1/4 mile apart, and have known each other for more than 55 years. And I know that he was never married to anyone other than the Claimant. I know that they lived together as husband and wife from the time of their marriage to the time of his death which occurred February 21, 1913. I know that he is dead for I saw him after he was dead. I have also known Claimant ever since she was of marriageable ade and know that she was never married prior to her marriage with Said Soldier and that she never was divorced from him and that she was not remarried since Said Soldier's death and that she is now his legal widow. I further know that Millie C. Downey and Cordelia Minnis who married Said Soldier on March 20, 1868 is one and the same person. The C in the Claimant's name is for Cordelia which is the name she was married under."
