Son John Caswell says that his father worked in the freight yard of the Rock Island Railroad, at times as the yard order clerk, and that he liked to hunt and fish. Frank died at home of acute coronary thrombosis due to chronic myocardial infarction (5 minutes) and arteriosclerotic heart (4 years) at age 59 on June 8, 1963, in Blue Island.
