OBITUARY. Sister Sopha Coker, wife of Russel Coker, and daughter of sister Derinda Wills, died at her home, near Jug Tavern [now Winder, Barrow County], in Jackson county, on the 7th day of Sept 1877, at the age of 29 years. She had been a member of the church for nearly 20 years, and a converted and lively christian about 13 years. She was, some two weeks before her death, at a meeting where the preacher remarked that someone in the congregation might never again be at the house of God, in a short time, she concluded that this was her last visit to church, and seemed to think that her sickness was unto death - telling her friends that she would die and all was right. So it proved. For a day or two before her death, she was happy - talking to her mother and sister and brother and husband, asking, at last, to see her children and committing them to God, and asking her friends and relations not to grieve for her. Giving such a charge, she fell asleep in Jesus. Her funeral was preached at Concord church on the 9th and her remains deposited in the earth until the last triumph shall wake the dead - when we hope her husband and relations may all come up with her, with white robes, washed in the blood of the lamb. May the Lord be with us. M. H. E. [Dorinda T. Wills, born 21 Oct 1824, died May 24, 1885, was buried at Concord Methodist Church cemetery, Barrow County, Georgia. Ref: BCGC]
