I just called the hospital. Millie is much improved. She can feed herself, and is not as confused as she was when they brought her into the hospital. However, I think the diagnosis and prognosis is the same as Stimpap's. She had an infection and they don't know where, so they're giving her a broad spectrum antibiotic. That's how they started with Stimpap. I think she's going to shut down. It's a shame she can't be with it again. Every time she gets sick all medical personnel tell you how pleasant she is.

Love, Mum

We went to see Millie Friday and she was out of it. They had her on pain medication and she was like Herb when he was taken in to the hospital - no response. Art went over on Sat. and she was sitting up eating so she's doing better I guess. She has a urinary track infection - Art says the catheter bag was brown and had chunks of stuff in it. That sound terrible!!!! I haven't called today to see how she's doing and we don't know how long she'll be in there.

Debra, You may not have gotten my email a couple of weeks ago. Millie was in the hospital for a suspected heart attack. She did not have one.

As of yesterday, she was spitting her food out and not able to communicate due to her dementia. They gave us 2 choices – feeding tube or hospice supplemental care. We chose hospice.

Everybody, I just got off the phone with Rolling Hills. Believe it or not, Millie’s back in the dining room and eating a little. They are going to monitor her calories and keep her dr informed. They will supplement the home’s care with hospice care.

Love you all Mum

Nurse just called. Millie suffered a setback over the weekend. Doesn’t look good. Could be anytime or maybe not, but the end is definitely near.

Tracy, the way she talked, it may be better to remember her the way we knew her because she’s not smiling or eating; just kinda out of it. Shaun, in my opinion, you should not cancel your weekend plans; the nurse said it may or may not happen. Matt, again, in my opinion, since you have a new job, I don’t think it would be wise to fly home. They probably won’t have a viewing. We’ll probably just have her in the back of church like we did with grandpap.

Love you all,

Mum

I went to Rolling Hills yesterday. It’s not good. Just now, Tuesday, I got a call from the nurse. She left a message that she had just given Millie more medicine to help her breathe but she said the end is closer. She will call me in a few minutes.
