Meredith Ruth Gillen, age 93, of Swanton, OH, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at Harborside Healthcare in Swanton. She was born September 7, 1911, in Swanton, OH to Arthur and Amanda (Ickes) Kline. She was a 1929 graduate of AI school. On May 9, 1931, she married Victor Gillen. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1973. Meredith was a homemaker, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member the Catholic Knights of OH and a member of the Metamora and Berkey Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Richard) Napierala of Swanton, OH; son, Richard (Helen) Gillen of Swanton, OH; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Besides her husband, Meredith was preceded in death by her children, Melvin and Maynard Gillen and Mary Carolyn Natter and great-grandchild, Kristie Jo Gillen. Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2004, from 2-9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora. A Scripture service will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by the reciting of the Rosary. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Dennis Metzger officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
