to Ephraim Squire
Death[3] 12 Sep 1734 Durham, Middlesex, Connecticut, United States
Burial[3] Old Durham Cemetery, Durham, Middlesex, Connecticut, United States

The identification of this Mehitabel Barnes as the "Mehitabel" who married Ephraim Squire prior to 1733 is based (1) on the name given her only known child, Samuel Stent Squire, and (2) the apparent absence of any other Mehitable/Mabel, descended from Captain Eleazer Stent, available to be the mother of that child. Note that middle names were highly unusual that early in New England, and that all individuals, during that period in Connecticut, with the Stent surname were descended from the Captain. His son, Eleazer, the only son who had children, had only Eleazer and Elizabeth. Dorothy was the only daughter who had a daughter Mehitabel. Any Mehitabel in a subsequent generation would have been much to young to be the first wife of Ephraim Squire.
