Mentioned as 'Morris', a cousin and son of my sister Ruth Smith by Will of Isaac Jackson. See abstract in Isaac's Notes.

"The Record" Jan 1922, pg 16: "These four children of Abel Smith all left Long Island with their families before the Revolution and removed to Dutchess County, New York." The date of Maurice and Mary's removal to Dutchess County is not known but the author of "The Record" article says it was probably between 1765 and 1770.

"Maurice Smith signed the Association in Beekman's Precinct, Dutchess County, August 15, 1775 (Philip Smith's "History of Dutchess County", p. 486). He served in Col. Abraham Brinckerhoff's regiment of Dutchess Co., Militia during the Revolutionary War, in 1779 and 1780. (Records in office of Adjunct General, War Department, Washington, D.C.)."
