"M.E.Routzahn Rites Tuesday- apparently despondent because of ill health,Maurice Edward Routzahn, 403 North Market Street, committed suicide byhanging himself from a tree along the Monocasy River just south of theGas House Pike Bridge about 1:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Hislifeless body was found about 2 o'clock by two local men, who werepreparing to set a line of traps along the river. They notified citypolice, who joined the sheriff Horace M. Alexander and the countymedical examiner in an investigation. The officers said Routzahn used apiece of new sash cord to make a noose. He climbed a small tree andjumped toward the ground, they said. Russell and Irving Brightwell,East 7th Street, said they were walking along the creek when theynoticed the body hanging from the tree. They drove to policeheadquarters here to notify authorities. The hanging body, they said,could be seen from the Gas House Pike but they didn't notice it untilthey walked within a few feet of the tree. Was Former Bus Driver- thedeceased, who was 52 years of age, was a son of the late Oscar andMargaret Feaga Routzahn. For five years he had been employed by theGeneral Outdoor Advertising Company but was forced to retire about amonth ago due to ill health. He had previously been employed as a busdriver by several transportation companies. A verdict of suicide wasgiven. His first wife died more than a year ago. He is survived by hissecond wife, Mrs. Laura Margret Stillman Routson, and two children bythe first marriage: Mrs. Howard Blank, Reno, Nevada, and Maurice E.Routson, Jr., ocean side, California. He was the last survivor of hisimmediate family. Friends may call at the funeral home, 106 East ChurchStreet, where private funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at11 o'clock.interment will be an amount of that Cemetery, M. R. Atchisonand son, funeral directors, have charge of arrangements."
