Obituary:S1

Mrs. John N. Massey died at her home south of Albia after a protracted illness with cancer, at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning. Matilda, daughter of David and Rebecca Rowles, was born Jan. 7, 1819 at Bath, Steuben Co., N.Y., and at age 3 moved to Indiana with her parents. In Nov. 1841 she married John N. Massey and in 1844 moved to Iowa. She had four children, two of whom are still living. One son died at age six and a daughter, Mrs. Elmira Barnes, died four years ago. A son, Orestes H. Massey, and another daughter, Mrs. Rozella Rouse, survive. Two brothers, Oliver and Anson Rowles, and three sisters also survive. She was interred in Oak View Cemetery, Albia.
