Her identity is not certain

The Mary Williams who married John Benson in Caversham in 1633 might or might not be the Marye Williams, daughter of Robert Williams, christened in Caversham in 1606. The Ancestral File (and many records in IGI) identify her as such, but most give 2 dates for birth/christening (12 Oct 1606 and 22 Feb 1611), and cannot be treated as definitive. The latter date (22 Feb 1611) is only given in conjunction with a birth date of 12 Oct 1606, and thus appears to be spurious. Ethel Farrington Smith's article, published in 1988, does not identify her parents, and suggests that she was born about 1610 (likely based on her husband's calculated birth year of about 1608). This does not preclude her from having been born in 1606, but Smith clearly does not endorse the information in the Ancestral File. --DataAnalyst 12:35, 5 February 2011 (EST)
