Who was John Langdale's wife? (June 2022)
For a long time, I had assumed it was Mary Charlesworth. This marriage occurred on 29 Jun 1767, in Birstall in West Yorkshire, which is over 60 miles from Leake.

This is several months after John Langdale's son, Thomas was born. Both location and date after the birth of Thomas seem to invalidate my assumption.

]Recently, Liz Harmer drew my attention to a marriage record for John Langdale and Mary Scurr. He was from Leake and she was from Northallerton, about 6 miles away. They wed on 20 Sep 1766, about 7 months before the birth of Thomas Langdale.

Owing to the proximity of Northallerton to Leake, and the marriage date prior to Thomas' birth, I believe that this is the correct marriage record for John Langdale of Leake.
