Mary Jane never married

An August 30, 1880 newspaper article reads;

"We this morning are called upon to chronicle the death of our neighbor and esteemed friend Mary Jane Torbett. Jane has suffered long but patiently with that monster desease consumpson.(Cancer) She was a live member of the M.E.S. Church. Lived and moved as an exemplary member and died in the full triumph of the faith.Peace be to her mortal, and may her immortal bask in the full fruition of those joys that she during her probation labored so zealously to attain. Relatives weep not. Your loss is her immortal gain. She died yesterday and her remains will be burried today at New Bethel."
