Mary Kubesh(former Mary Marie Robertson) died Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City. Mary was born April 5, 1915, in Traverse City. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ida (Sachtleben) Robertson. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1933. She married John Raymond "Ray" Kubesh on Oct. 27, 1938, in Traverse City. They lived in Midland for many years, where he worked for The Dow Chemical Co. and she worked as a bookkeeper for SS Kresge (now Kmart). In 1977 they retired to a home they had built on Cedar Hedge Lake near Interlochen, where she has lived since. She was a 4-H leader for many years working at Midland County fairs. She is survived by sister, Anna Louise Anger of Midland; brother, Robert Eugene (Elmy) Robertson of Traverse City; son, Jon Raymond Kubesh of Midland; daughter, Kathy Ida (Darryl) Stephison of Renton, Wash.; four grandchildren, Kelly (Jay) Norment of Kalkaska, Kennan (Katie) Kubesh of Interlochen, Dawn Byers of Midland, and Lestina (Mark) Ducommon of Traverse City; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five nieces; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Kubesh; sister, Rosabelle Violet Zimmerman of Lake Orion; and brothers, Alfred Cornealus Robertson of Ithaca and Walter Louis Robertson of Midland. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. from the Covell Funeral Home, Traverse City. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 1, 2009, 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
