“Brandenburg:- At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. N B Dudley in Ogden, Ohio on the 17th of March, 1878, Mrs. Mary Brandenburg widow of William Brandenburg, late of this County.

She was born October 9, 1795, was married to William Brandenburg in 1812, with whom she shared the toils, and privations of life for 63 years. Soon after their marriage they emigrated from Virginia to the west, and settled in Warren County, Ohio. Subsequently they moved to Switzerland County, Indiana, and lived there ten years. They came back to Warren County, Ohio where they resided a number of years. About 34 years ago they came to Clinton County where she spent the remainder of her life.

Coming to the Western Country when it was new, in common with others, she had many privations t endure, and many difficulties to encounter, but was spared to see the labors of the enterprising pioneer crowned with wealth and plenty. Near fifty years ago, she embraced the Savior, and united with the Free Will Baptist Church, but on coming to Clinton County, she joined the United Brethren Church, and considered hereafter a member of that church while she lived. She was of a meek and quiet disposition - her piety deep and uniform, and as might be expected of her, was at peace.

During her last illness, her confidence was unshaken in God, and she calmly passed away in full assurance of immortality and eternal life. She was the mother of a large family of children, several of them having gone before. May those who still survive, “Follow her as she followed Christ” and finally meet her in Heaven.”
