The marriage between Mary and John McGuane of Dunsallagh, Miltown Malby was a match (arranged marriage) and her dowry was 20 gold sovereigns. They had the one son, John McGuane and unfortunately, John McGuane died one year later. Do to some family administration problems, Mary had no rights or title to the McGuane home or farm and had to return to Mullagh with her young son. She lived in the Mall, Mullagh thereafter and John emigrated to the USA in 1957.
