    Betty married Christopher Parson Norris, Jr. when her son, Robert D. Spruiell
    was two and a half years old.

    Three different Census records show her as Mary E. Lowe. The 1900 Census shows her as Mary E. , married to Christopher T. Norris and born in May 1875. Her middle name was most likely Eliz abeth, and probably why everyone knew her as "Betty". At the time of the 1900 Census she an d Chris had been married less than 1 year. The Census shows that Chris Norris had 6 sons at t he time and that Mary had only one son (Robert Spruiell) by her first husband Walter Spruiel l. Betty died while she was a patient in a Mental Institution at Vernon, Wilbarger County, Te xas.
