Mary Daught'r of Obadiah [sic] Haws Oct: 2. [16]98.
[Note: There appears to be an assumption by Corcoran in his presentation that the father is misrecorded in this baptism. Obadiah Haws had by wife Rebecca a daughter Rebecca born in Dorchester 6 Jul 1695, then in Milton, he had a son Obadiah born 27 Jan 1697 and daughter Sarah 10 Sep 1700. Despite this, Corcoran on p. 37, gives Obadiah a daughter Mary bp 2 Oct 1698, "probably d. young", thus using the baptism both ways. As a result of adding the extra child, he reports the son Obadiah's birth as "27 Jan (June?) 1696-7" to avoid births too close together. Based on Mary's birthdate, and Obadiah's relocation to Milton, and typical usage being that 27 Jan 1697 would mean 27 Jan 1697/98 making Obadiah Jr.'s birth rule out a daughter baptized in 1698, it seems most likely that the father's name was misrecorded.]
