Facts and Events
There are 166 vital records available on MyHeritage for Mary Cox, including birth records, marriage records, and death records. Vital records are historical records that are typically recorded around the actual time of the event, which means they are likely accurate. Vital records include information like the event date and place, and the person's occupation and residence. Vital records also often include information about the person's relatives. For example, birth and marriage records include names of parents and divorce records list the names of children.
Mary Cox was born in 1861 in the parish of St Mellion, Cornwall. She was the third of six children of a gamekeeper named John Cox and his wife Sarah Fox. Mary appears with her parents and sisters in the 1861 census aged two months old, living at a hamlet called Newton in St Mellion parish. However, Mary does not appear with her parents in the 1871 census. Given the relative scarcity of Coxes in Cornwall at the time, it seems highly likely that she was the Mary Cox who died in 1864 in the St Germans registration district (which covers St Mellion). This would suggest she died aged three.
