Facts and Events
Name[1] Mary Corbet
Gender Female
Birth[4] Est 1418
Marriage to Robert Charlton

Identity

It is not certain that she was the daughter of Robert Corbet, who died in 1420, since the only source of this information appears to be the Visitation of Shropshire, 1623, which is not considered particularly reliable. It is possible that she was the daughter of her mother's second husband (William Mallory) instead[3] (or not a member of this family at all). However, there is no particular problem with the dates if she was the daughter of Robert Corbet - he had 2 known sons, born about 1410 and about 1414, and it is reasonable to assume that there were other children born between 1414 and some months after his death. Mary's husband was born before 1430, and there seems to be nothing preventing assigning a birth year of about 1417 to him.

'I'd like to explore the theory that Mary was actually the daughter of Margaret(--)CORBET and her second husband, William MALLORY. ... I've seen only one piece of evidence in which Robert CHARLTON's wife is called Mary CORBET, daughter of Robert CORBET and his wife Margaret ... the Visitation of Shropshire, 1623.'

The Visitation of Shropshire, 1623 is known to have several errors regarding this family.
