The Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids in 1880 was Immaculate Conception. Rev. Thomas F. Gunn becomes the second resident pastor. He served 26 years. He enlarges the church, builds a rectory, and encourages the Sisters of Mercy in the project of building a hospital.

Talked with my Dad about the McLains. It seems one of the daughters was named Barbara, she was a little older ( note: born before 1918) than my Dad. They lived in Germantown, Pa. Their visit happened in the summer.Mike Newquist 5/17/03
