    [Note: it has been assumed the date should be Oct, since the earlier daughter Mary did not die until 18 Oct 1778, and it seems extremely unlikely they would reuse the name prior to the death of the previous daughter having that name. Within 1778, December would be the only other option. A baptism record might help confirm one or the other.]

    Division of estate of Daniel Conant, 1812, mentions heirs [among others] Mary, wife of Simeon [sic] Puffer. Children of Daniel Conant and Martha Cole: Maria H. m. Simeon Puffer.
    [This seems a little sloppy. Presumably Simeon is based on the reading of the division of the estate, though a simple check of the VRs would show Simon, and no sign of any Simeon. Further, Mary H. is the name of son Daniel's daughter, not the father Daniel: there is no Maria H in the records. No mention is made of an earlier daughter Mary who died young, either.]
