- ↑ Source:Densmore, Lyman Willard. Hand-Book of Hartwell Genealogy, 1636-1887, p. 113, makes a mess of Mary's marriages. It says that Isaac Hartwell m. Abigail Bacon who d. 1733, then Mary widow of his uncle John (i.e., this Mary), and she d. 1757, he marrying (3) 1767 Phebe Brewer. First, noting that the uncle John d. 1746, this would require that Isaac sat unmarried for at least 13 years. Secondly, comparing this to Oxford VRs, we find that Isaac m. 1736-7 Mary Cowdry of Reading, who died 1772 in her 70th year (clearly doesn't fit this Mary who would have been 90), and then he m. 1773, not 1767, Phebe Brewer. So probably none of what Densmore says about Mary, post-John, is correct.
